Alpe d'Huez is a legend in the cycling world for its 21 hairpin turns, each bend numbered from bottom to top and named after a past stage winner of the Tour de France, which has featured this climb 32 times. The record for the fastest ascent was set by Marco Pantani in 1995 at 36 minutes and 50 seconds (and should stand until Tadej Pogačar rides it!).
