The Girls in the Kapahaka Book
Soft Cover book written by New Zealand author Angie Belcher and illustrated by Debbie Tipuna.
This is a lovely New Zealand story about a group of girls in a Kapahaka group, who wore piupiu made by a local Kuia and Koro who cut the flax for their piupiu.
"These are the poi that circled and twirled above the heads of the singing girls who wore the piupiu that swished and swirled, made from the flax that Koru cut, that the mussel shell scraped, that the Kuia made, that swung from the hips of the girls in the kapahaka."
