I think that this originates in Burma, or possibly Ceylon. The barrel part is a carved coconut shell and the elephants I'd say are ebony or possibly teak. This piece stands 10" in height and is in much better condition than other examples I have seen. The elephants are missing their tusks and there is one smallish split in the coconut barrel on the top rim. Overall, however, the condition is very good. A lovely decorative item from the British Colonial Period.
