A small 2 3/4" high somewhat battered little candle stick with Silver Hallmarks for Birmingham 1925 and engraved S.S. PATUCA . The Patuca was built in 1913 for the ELDERS & FYFFES LINE. The ship served as an Armed Merchant Cruiser in World War One from December 1914 to May 1918. The ships early career included trips from Bristol to Columbia as a 'Banana Boat' and Passenger carrier. DETAILS FOR WW1 ..... HMS Patuca, AMC, 6103 tons, armed 6 x 6 inch, 2 x 3pounder AA, 15.5 knots, Pennant Nos M77 (1914), M1.90 (January 1918, M1.49 April 1918). was a Kite Baloon ship from 1917 to 13th December 1918. Patuca was scrapped in 1935.
