Toyota and rallying is a long love history! Well before the Celica ST (165, 185 and 205) or the Yaris WRC, the Japanese brand was already impressing on rally stages. At the end of the 1970s, Toyota offered a Celica RA21 to talented Nordic drivers. During the 1977 season, Hannu Mikkola was one of these drivers. The flying Finn retired five times in a row, and the Celica's mechanics were mainly to blame for these disappointments. But at the already legendary RAC Rally, Mikkola managed to finish the race. For the final event of the season, he gave Toyota a fine podium finish, which enabled the Japanese brand to finish in the top 3 in the manufacturers' championship.
