Child's Kapa Haka Kotiro
Our Child's Kapa Haka Kotiro features a Top bodice with black underdress that has an adjustable Velcro fastening. The Piupiu skirt has an adjustable Velcro closure at the back and the head band is elasticized.
This Kapa Haka costume was inspired by designs derived from the costume worn by the now defunt Otatara Cultural Club of Taradale, Napier, New Zealand.
The design depicts New Zealands's National bird the Kiwi and is surrounded by the Niho-Taniwha pattern (the dragon's teeth) and the three Baskets of Knowledge.
This design was the work of three people, namely Ellen Coulter, Ngaupoko Batt and Baden Batt.
Only Baden is still alive and he unreservedly gives his consent to the costume and Maori motifs being used on these garments.
