The Del Tongo cycling team was active between 1982 and 1991. Led by sports directors Pietro Algeri and Paolo Abetoni, they secured a notable victory in the 1983 Giro d’Italia with rider Giuseppe Saronni. Although they only participated once in the Tour de France (in 1987), their legacy continued as they provided the foundation for the Lampre team. Del Tongo achieved significant wins in one-day races and Grand Tours, leaving their mark on the cycling world.
