A nice 1920's Pictorial Letterhead from the WHITE STAR LINER, S.S. MAJESTIC....measures 8" x 10" opened out. Nice depiction of the vessel and mainly pencil notes on the paper for Personal Effects etc. Built as the BISMARK all work on her was stopped in AUGUST 1914 for the duration of the war .In June 1919 the treaty of Versailles dictates handing over the "Bismarck" to the Allies and in March 1922 work on ship was completed and the Bismark was handed over to White Star Line, Liverpool, and renamed "Majestic". In1934 White Star and Cunard merge and in May1936 MAJESTIC was sold for scrapping, but then bought by British admiralty as a training vessel ....in 1937 commissioned as stationary navy vessel "Caledonia" but in1939 she burns out completely during air attack and sinks. 1940.... scrapped by T.W. Ward & Co in 1940.
