The Passo dello Stelvio (Stelvio Pass) is the most famed climb in Italian cycling, climbing to 2,757m with 48 hairpins from the Eastern side. The Stelvio was first included in the 1953 Giro d'Italia where Fausto Coppi won in a battle with Hugo Koblet. A monument to Coppi now greets riders as they crest the top.
